I have an old timesheet program I did back in 1999 and uses SQL 6.5 back end... well I switched to .mdb throughout the program which was using RDO connection to SQL. Cannot get space approved on SQL server in our company so switched it to .MDE file in common directory on our WAN. So how do I switch the Crystal reports over to the .MDE file instead of SQL? I forgot how to do Crystal its been 10 years...

I think you simply need to change the connection string. But depending on the feature that is implemented in the CR you also might need to make changes to CR itself.
