Is this kind of thing something that is regularly included within job
specifications in the USA?
I'm based in the UK and would be amazed to see a job spec here that
mentioned anything about religion (unless it's advertising for a vicar or
something). I can't see the relevance myself. You can either do the job or
you can't, what difference does it make if you work for "a Christian
company"? If you don't require that candidates be Christian (which would
presumably be discriminatory), why even mention it?
Anyway, I guess I'm even more off topic now than the original post was...

Enone,
It all goes to the type of people you want to work with and associate
with.
Since I am a Christian, I prefer working with others of like mind.
It makes it easier to handle issues between each other.
As a business owner myself, I hire only people that are Christians.
I own the business and that is my perogative as the owner.
The government or anyone else does not have the authority
to tell me otherwise.
For example, I would never hire a skin-head, no matter his/her skill
level.
I would not want to work with them, period. I would not even want to
be around them. I would also not hire a Muslim. We have a total
different
set of moral values.

To add on to what raibeart said, it goes both ways. Some people cannot
stand religion and are confrontational about it. I want to avoid
people who have a problem with the way we believe and attract those
who believe as we do or don't mind the fact that we believe. | | | | re: Need VB.NET 2005 Programmer for start up company in Houston, Tx (Perm position)
Just curious. Why does it make him a "shame for all humans" to want to hire
people with beliefs similar to his own? It doesn't mean he's one of those
proselytizing annoying Bible-beating Christians who go around trying to
convert everyone else and being smug if you don't agree with them.
If he feels comfortable hiring people with similar beliefs, what's wrong
with that?

Well spoken Cor.
In my opinion true Christians do not discriminate against anyone.
Doing so just proves that you are not a Christian, and it disgraces
the religion for someone to claim to be a Christian and still speak
like raibeart did. Not getting into a religious discussion, but if
raibeart wanted to act like a Christian, shouldn't he want to
associate with non-Christians and try to minister to them? After all
Jesus himself spent most of his time with (corrupt) tax collectors,
prostitutes, and other "sinners", but he didn't banish them from his
presence. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/...2;&version=31;

I would hire a skinhead; but I sure as fuck wouldn't hire a sand-
nigger either
I think that we should line up every sand nigger in the world and
shoot them execution style
when they learn how to stop letting their own, steal our planes and
kill our innocent civilians is when I start thinking of them as human.
And we should have gone nuclear a LONG time ago.

In my opinion, Christians DO discriminate against SADDAM HUSSEIN-- WHO
WAS PAYING (THE FAMILES OF) PEOPLE TO BLOW THEMSELVES UP IN THE WEST
BANK
In my opinion, Christians DO discriminate against OSAMA-- and anyone
else that isnt willing to help us find him.
I think that we should barge in there and kick the shit out of Iran,
and Pakistan-- for being stupid enough to declare was on us on 9/11
I just hope that they make new concentration camps; and stick every
fucking muslim in the world in a camp and give them a gas shower.
they've proven that they want to live in caves; so fuck them
When they can prevent their own from blowing us up is when we stop
shooting innocent muslims.
People like you-- without balls-- are encouraging to the Muslim Pigs.
I think that you should be in jail just like Osama; for sticking up
for those muslim pigs

Frankly, it kind of surprised me that he posted that. It would surprise me
if that wasn't discrimination, although didn't they allow the Salvation
Army to *not* hire people *they* didn't want to hire, like gays?
Kind of makes you wonder how he figures out if they are Christians, doesn't
it? And it makes me wonder if there's some kind of test to see how *good*
they are at being Christian. Can he tell if it's lip service? Does he ask
if they tithe? Or volunteer? ;-)

Rather than saying *In my opinion true Christians do not discriminate
against anyone*, it is better to say true human beings do not
differentiate nor indiscriminate.
I have not thought about the religion of the people I work with - the
thought does not enter into my mind even.
I do not see how other people can when the purpose of your being in an
office is to work and not let your mind wander to other things in life.
