Config RH Server For Telnet Printing

We are running an application server with RHEL WS Release 3. Users telnet to this server from XP systems. I have no problem setting up networked printers, but I cannot figure out how to configure printers on the server that are connected locally to the XP systems.

This is a legacy system, so it has been configured to do this in the past, but I cannot locate where this was done. Not CUPS, IPP, or LPD. Not even sure where to go with this.

re: Config RH Server For Telnet Printing

As I look into this more, I can see aliases configured in the bbx.config file (BBx Pro/5). Does anyone have any experience with this? Should I make changes directly in the bbx.config file, or is there a better, safer, place for this?

Replace bbx.config with config.bbx.

re: Config RH Server For Telnet Printing

An existing line from the config.bbx file:

alias L13 /dev/ttyQ1b1 "shipping slave" CR,PCOL=255,CPLINES=66,SPCOLS=255,SPLINES=66, lock=/tmp/L13S.lck,WAIT=255

I should note that /dev/ttyQ1b1 does not exists, or no longer exists. /dev/ttyQ1 is present, though empty. Is anyone familiar with configuring a a printer, not networked, that is connected to a remote host?

re: Config RH Server For Telnet Printing

My apologies for posting so many responses, but I am picking this up as I go. I should also note another line in config.bbx:

alias T23 /dev/ttyQ1b1 term

L13, from my previous post, is a reference of an available printer when telnet-ing to the application on the RH server. If that same line is stating that L13 is an alias for a device connected to a port on /dev/ttyQ1b1, then what would be the purpose of the T23 alias?
