Image Viewing to Framebuffer

What is the best comma line program to output a bitmap to frame buffer.

Currently im converting them in to mpegs but during that process ive been running into compression issues with them displaying the true raw bitmap as I need exactly pixel by pixel to the original bitmap

I am running on Arngstrom Linux with a ARM OMAP3 processor, but im just looking for suggestions on any Linux distro.
