Is it possible to install SQL 2000 desktop without installing a database
server? I need to have the interface to access my database servers, but
don't want the overhead of a server and the service on my laptop.

Possible?

Thanks
Doug

Absolutely. During installation you will see this option.

What I think you want to install is the SQL Client and Connectivity tools.
You will see that option when you install the program. It will say
something like Install
Server and Client tools
Client tools only

Choose client tools only.
