Hi all,
I am new to this forum. I have a valid copy of Visual Studio 2008 that I received free from a MS event in Chicago. Before I went I was jonesing for my own copy so I purchased one outright from an on-line store which I did not have to pay taxes for.

I am trying to sell the latter product on Ebay and a potential buyer asked me to send him a copy of the product key number? Is this safe to do or very foolish? I can't seem to find anything on the internet telling me one way or the other. Thank you for your assistance.

re: Giving out information

If you give out the product key, then someone else can take whatever version that they downloaded off the interenet, install your product key and have a nice, valid copy. Personally, I would say don't do it. If they want the key, they can buy the disc from your auction and you'll happily send the whole thing to them.

I hate when people prey on the unsuspecting, thinking they won't be smart enough to think about what they are doing first. I am also glad you asked before doing so, now you know.

Regards,

Jeff
