I'm new here.. I am hoping to get some Professional Advice.

I want to start my own online Auction. I anticipate it will grow into a high volume/high traffic online auction. I need some Recommendations as to what platform and what is the best configuration this Auction should be designed in to handle high volume(i.e. Php or ASP or CGI, Mysql)?

I've seen some other Auction scripts out there.. but I really don't know the best design for an Auction website that can handle high volume.. Security is very important as well..

Hope to get some good advice on this one.. Please Help.

Heya, Jon. Welcome to TSDN!

You posted this in the Articles section. I'll go ahead and move it to the Forum where an Expert will be more likely to find it.

re: Getting started writing an auction script

I'm no professional,
to do what you want to do takes a lot of little steps that will eventually become a staircase. First thing I would do is decide on what scripting language I would use. Personally I like php. Then you would have to think of what data you would have to store i.e. user, password, items, etc. personally I would use mysql. now that that is figured out you would have to make a templating system for this auction website.
You can find tutorials on this. To compete with the big boys will take lots of advertising dollars. Security is another main issue. You would probably be better off buying a script, depending on how much your time is worth.
