Beginner question

Hello

Im a completely new to ROR and Im looking for some extremely basic information on getting started on programming with ruby on rails. Im unsure of the most basic things that seem to get glossed over on most pages, like simply getting started. I have downloaded and then installed a ruby live cd. It probably doesn't help that my understanding of linux is incredibly limited. So if anybody could recommend somewhere i could get information regarding that (especially the layout of the file system)
