Preserve imap stream?

Hello,

I'm trying to access my pop3 mailbox by using the imap_open funtion,
works fine so far. But, when I refresh the site like 5 times, the
script can no longer log in due to a server restriction (max 1 Logins
per minute or s.th. like that).
Is there any possibility to prserve the imap stream across multiple
sites?
