Hi there

I am staying at a dorm there is about 80 of us here. Everyday about 8:30 in the morning our network goes out of order and first begin to work at about 0:30 at night. I think that someone is using a firewall and has his or her computer on all day. Now everybody has got a statik IP thats equivalent to our room number, so I thourght about ddos, but that might be a bit harsh. Is there anyway I can find out who it is?? Yes I have set up notes about turning off their firewall, but maybe the person is'nt aware about his or her anoying habits, or can't read my bad english ;)

re: Finding someones IP

If you are an administrator, it shouldn't be a problem. There should be a possibility to log when which computer comes online. If you aren't, you could try writing a script that will ping every possible IP and see if it responds (oh, and log the results of course). That won't work in all cases, as some computers are set not to respond, but the chances are quite good.

Can't think of anything else right now.
