| re: about network drive
hi siddhartha92,
Where exactly are the computers located?, is it in the same local area or a building per se?, are they connected thru a cable?, if thats so, youre only connected thru LAN, so might do this, how bout try providing the network drive over the LAN cable without the internet?, what kind of platform are you using?,
win2k3 active directory?
say, if the case just on two branch offices, how far are they connected?,
if they are connected thru wire, then do what i mentioned,
place the network drive into a dedicated file server(computer)
put a static ip add to that computer,
option1*
then if youre using windows server 2003 AD then just simply map the ipaddress to each user acct( it may be hard if you are dealing with hundreds of users)
option2*
or just tell them to access the network drive go to run= type \\192.168.0.1 (this is just sample IP add of the dedicated file server)
remember this option will be more difficult in the point of view of the users because everytime they will need to get the data into the network drive they have to type the whole ipaddress of the server,
hope this will help you,
