insert xml file into mySQL database.

hello all, not sure if i fully explained myself on an earlier post.

All i really need to do is to store an xml file into mysql database. I have no idea how to do this, including any php code i need etc..

All i have done is create a database in mySQL and a table to get my login working.

My xml file labelled cars.xml is below.

<Feedback label = "Feedback">

<Ford label = "Ford">
<Speed label = "performance rating"/>
</Ford>

<Volvo label = "Volvo">
<Size label = "Vovo Size"/>
<Location label = "Volvo HQ Location"/>
<Colour label = "Volvo Colour"/>
</Volvo>

</Feedback>

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO STORE THIS XML FILE INTO MYSQL?

Thank you all.

Are you sure about this? Well you could just dump the XML code into a text field or store the file as a blob field, but with files it is more efficient to store the files in their own directory and just put the file name and path into the DB.

Hello Thank you for this. v.useful. but is there any chance you could help me with how to do this? As i am new to mySQL and dont know where to store the filename and directory. i.e. in a php file, a .inc file or is there a link in the mySQL db where i simply upload the file

Sorry for the stupid question but i am really an amateur at this.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP

You are double posting in this MySQL forum. Your previous thread had the same subject.

Create a field in your DB eg. `filename`. In this field enter the full path from the root directory to the location of the XML file. Or enter the filename and path relative to any program that uses this file. I would do this rather than place the file into the DB.
