mysql jdbc connection problem on linux

hello...I am Tripteela from India....I am working on my M.E. project..

I am new To Linux (using FC5)...I intend to use mysql from java application ( using Eclipse)....The jdbc driver i have downloaded from the net is mysql-connector-java-3.0.17 ... I cannot connect to the database ....I want to know in which folder should i place the driver

which web server u r using ? is it tomcat?
