Next door to me live four brothers of different heights. Their average height is 74 inches, and the difference in height amongst the first three men is two inches. The difference between the third and the fourth man is six inches.
Can you tell how tall is each brother?

Can you tell how tall is each brother? Brother 1,2,3,4 = 74,72,72,78 inches

Can you tell how tall is each brother? If I understand your phrase "the difference in height amongst the first three men
is two inches" as an increasing series as in e.g. 70, 72, 74 there are more than
one answers; let x be the length of the first brother. The length of the first four
brothers is x, x+2, x+4, x+10. Let y be the length of the fifth brother,
so x+x+2+x+4+x+10+y == 5x74 --> 4x + 16 + y == 370 --> 4x + y == 354.
You need to add one more clue.
kind regards,
Jos

Jos In my #3 post, i was wrong,
And debasisdas answer is true.
I know there is many ways.
But if:
1, 2, 3 == 70,72,74
So the fourth brother = 80.
I found that way, but debasisdas way is another.

I found that way, but debasisdas way is another. And I was wrong too: I misread 'four' as 'five' I need classes and I apologize for
the confusion I might have caused.

I found that way, but debasisdas way is another. just needed to specify that they had to be in order of height (from shortest), then 75,73,71,77 No longer works and I think(could be wrong) that then there is only 1 answer
