How to show an image with a mirrored edge

I would like to use Fancy Upload to upload an image. After the image is uploaded, I would like to display the image with a mirrored edge to demonstrate the image is wrapped on a frame and added on a mirrored edge on the left side.

Could someone recommend a solution or a pointer to some solution?

there are some PHP image libraries (GD, ImageMagick, Gmagick, Cairo) that you can use for image processing.
