About the Position
As a UI Engineer at hi5, you will be responsible for applying CSS/
HTML, AJAX and other Web 2.0 techniques to build an array of features
for both the hi5.com site. In this capacity, you will work closely
with product management, engineering, interaction designers and visual
designers.
Responsibilities
Develop front-end code using CSS/HTML, Javascript and AJAX
Collaborate with product managers, designers, infrastructure
engineers, and other UI engineers to define and build the user
experience
Play a leadership role in connecting with UI developer community to
keep abreast of latest trends and emerging techniques
Help create site wide standards and practices as part of the UI
engineering team.
Requirements
Fluency with CSS, HTML, Javascript in a cross-browser environment
Good understanding of web technologies like HTTP, XML/JSON/XSLT
Well-versed with code optimization and software design principles
You write quality stuff: follow web standards, document well, and
appreciate the beauty of well formed code.
Ability to come up with various innovative UI techniques through
your expertise in client-side development to enhance the end-user
experience.
Have an accurate eye for estimation and work with the team to meet
deadlines.
Ability to handle the pressure and fluidity of a start-up
environment
Preferred
Portfolio that includes sample web-based projects
At least 3 years work experience
BS degree or higher, preferably in CS
Familiarity with JSP development is a strong plus
Experience with javascript frameworks prototype and scriptaculous
Understanding of the social networking space
