Hello,
I'm looking for a way to change the way an address appears while
browsing.
That is, when a visitor browses to:
http://domain/resource
I would like to show only http://domain/

or better:
http://domain/path/file
to show:
http://domain/path/

10x!

Use frames. What has this to do with JavaScript?

I thought you might be able to change the text in the address bar using
JavaScript

No, you can't. Please read the FAQ (<URL:http://jibbering.com/faq/>).
It contains an answer for this question.
