help with storing characters in a string on an interval?

what I want to do is dump the characters in a string into a new string based on an interval say I have a

String blah = "asksa123sbjdskc";

all i want is abc (ie every fifth character)

this is my attempt with 236 characters of junk inbetween the chars i want.

Your code is starting on character 0, not 235.
