request and response from server and client

Hi
I am using Java and i am building a proxy server.
I am not understanding how to make a client request to the server and how to manipulate that reponse given by the server before outputting the result to the client?
please help

I am using Java and i am building a proxy server.
Are you writing/implementing your own Proxy Server ?? If so, had you looked at Socket Programming in Java?
