There are no 'best books'; it's all about preference. Go into your local library/book store and find one that suits you.

Also, the title 'html' does not provide a meaningful description of your question (this is a guideline for posting). I have changed it to do as said.

I have heard good things about both of these.
1/
HTML, XHTML, and CSS, Sixth Edition (Visual Quickstart Guide) (Paperback) by Elizabeth Castro
2/
Beginning JavaScript with DOM Scripting and Ajax: From Novice to Professional (Paperback) by Christian Heilmann

Although, some say, that most books are out of date by the time they hit the street, and that the most valuable resource for learning HTML/CSS/Javascript is online through Google.
