Pls. Help With MySpace DIV/CSS Issue

Hi,

I am helping a musician friend of mine with his profile and I found a cool layout on Nas' MySpace page.

I changed some things and re-did the graphics and I basically popped my Image URLS where the ones were in Nas' profile code.

Something strange is happening tho. When I try to preview the layout, the entire profile is all covered up. My images show, but all the other elements have disappeared.

I am not sure where in the CSS I put in this is being caused.



In fact I tried copying all of Nas' code into my friends profile (it goes in the Biography section) and the same thing happened. All the images cover over the profile stuff (except the main MySpace header and navigation)

How did they make the things like the contact table, friends, profile image, comments, music player etc. all show in Nas' profile? I am totally stumped!

I can't even save the changes to my friends profile to show you because all the links are covered up and I can't submit the changes.

What do you mean the images show nothing else? Sorry I can't view myspace at work it is blocked. Post the code of your page please.

MySpace is a coding nightmare. There are people who can make it work but it's not easy or obvious. It's also not guaranteed to work in all browsers. It's just a mess.

Copying and pasting code from one site to another can also be a bad thing. It's like taking a piece from one puzzle and trying to make it fit in another. The piece needs to be trimmed.

Showing us the CSS alone is only showing half the picture. We would need the complete HTML or, preferably, a link, to be able to help you at all.

Now I've got most of the layout showing, but the header is hidden and I can't bring it forward. Any ideas how to bring it forward?

Yes, I can see the screenshot.

First, the <link> tag is in the wrong place and needs to be moved up into the head.
Second, you are using Xhtml ending tags, />, but you are coding in html. Remove the slashes.
Third, there are 173 html errors and about a dozen CSS errors. Like I said, myspace is a coding nightmare. Validate and see if those errors can even be fixed.

Once I get my other computer up and running, I can look for some links I have from people who have taken the time to kludge myspace pages so they look good.

Most of us really hate myspace questions.

Thanks so much for the help. Sorry you hate MySpace questions. I really would like to do this for my friend if possible. I know there is a way to put that header under the MySpace navigation... I just haven't quite figured it out.

Hi there, I've just had a look at your page and see that you have been able to get the header in. Would it be possible for you to post your new CSS that you have figured out so I can work backwards and see how you did it?
