Except for missing ALT tags on images, this site validates, yet I get
some strange disappearing text in IE on a PC. Check out this page:

http://www.alexmarshall.org/index.php?pageId=50

At the bottom of the middle box is the text "Categories: About my
book", which shows up normally in FireFox, but which disappears in IE.
Why so?

It's a peek-a-boo bug, and you have more of those than just that one.
Scroll down, and hover over 'printer friendly'. You'll see the third
column get cut off. Then hover over 'you can buy it from Amazon.com'
in the third column, and you'll see it come back.

Peek-a-boo bugs in IE are caused by how you use floats and clear
properties, but there are solutions to most of them.
Google for IE peek-a-boo.
I would have given you a link to the IE section of
"positioniseverything.net", but it seems they have swapped their free
to read articles for a members only system.

Great, thanks - I didn't remember that url and just went to the main
page, and tried several links, the one I found and thought was it, was
this one: <http://www.positioniseverything.net/ie-primer.html>
As it looked similar to the url you just gave, I thought the page had
changed. Most of the links on that page go to communitymx.com.

I'll now bookmark the /explorer.html link, thanks :-)

I meant only that the lack of validation didn't seem relevant to the
problem.
