Download the superior browser Mozilla [ http://www.mozilla.org/ ], then
exit MSIE (unfortunately, uninstalling it altogether is nearly
impossible in Windows), run Mozilla, go to Preferences / Advanced /
Scripts & Plug-Ins, and the applicable configuration is right there,
unlike in MSIE where it's hidden under a nonintuitive name I can never
remember (but don't have to, because I never use that piece-of-crap
browser anyway).

Please don't toppost.

Tools > Internet Options > Security tab
Pick your zone
Click Custom Level button
Scroll way down until you come to "Scripting"
Choose radio buttons of choice
Click Ok
Click Apply

Now that you know, do as Dan advised, and get Mozilla, and grab the
PrefBar extension.

You will have a much safer Internet experience.

I have found MSFT KB article 154036, "How to Disable Active Content in
Internet Explorer".

It is not at all useful to respond to questions such as mine by suggesting
that an alternative browser be used.

Ok, you like to use IE, but disable active content? As mentioned, it's
possible, but get problematic if you have to (want to) enabled for some
sites. Shifting between enable/disable and/or setting/removing certain
sites to/from the "secure zone" from time to time when needed, become
annoying for me.

In Mozilla it's easy as "kids game" to do it with the PrefBar :-)

I did not say I like to use IE, but that is irrelevant to my question.

Perhaps, I already use several browsers, but that is irrelevant to my
question.

I, too, commit the sin of straying from topics in news/web discusions, but
the response to use an alternative browser is way off topic.

http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;q154036

"SUMMARY
This article lists troubleshooting steps to help you troubleshoot
problems with active content such as ActiveX scripts, ActiveX
controls, and Java programs in Internet Explorer."

Does not respond to your query. The article does not mention JavaScript.

Well, until I looked at your web site, I didn't know if you were a
rank newbie or what. Now that I have looked at your site and find that
you've been in the computer business for 30 years, are a VB and VBA
programmer, I wonder why you needed to ask the question in the first
place.

Welcome to Usenet. Mozilla is a better browser.

Ok, you don't actually said you like to use IE, but your question and
first responds made me assume that. You see, you know the background for
your question, but I'm not a mind reader.

So to be able to give correct answers, I guess everybody could use
little more from you than "How does one enable/disable JavaScript in IE
6?" because this kind of questions (and responses) mostly comes from
people that can be responded as it's done in this thread :-)

Welcome to usenet. We have discussion here about www authoring with
HTML. If a discussion happens to answer a question you had, so much the
better, but this is not a helpdesk.

And if you continue with your pissy attitude, expect to be killfiled.

Would you ask for advice about removing stains from your furniture in
rec.knitting?

No. And I wouldn't ask for any advice whatsoever in this forum.

Perhaps if they were blood stains caused by dangerous knitting...
