Hello,

I am looking for Visual C++ .NET 2002. As far as I remember there is was
free to download for personal use. Is this correct? On the website
microsoft.com I can find a 2005 beta 2 to download, but that is not what I
want.
Sorry, if I am in the wrong group, the microsoft.public.it.dotnet.vc++ is
unpopulated.

Bye Chris

Not the IDE, no. There is what is known as "Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit
2003", and it only has the compiler/libraries, no IDE. Yet, I strongly
recommend getting it. VC++ .NET 2003 (7.1) is a decent compiler, good
optimizer, and significantly better than 2002.

Try 'microsoft.public.vc.*' hierarchy.

I googled for "Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003" and found it at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/visualc/vctoolkit2003/

No. The command-line tools and SDK were, and still are, as far as I know,
freely downloadable. But the IDE wasn't.

You can use TheIDE of U++ as the IDE for Visual C++ Toolkit

http://upp.sf.net.

It contains fairly good debugger as well.
