Error messages from unhandled exceptions

MC
I seem to recall that under Windows XP, when a .NET executable hit an
unhandled exception, the exception message would be displays on the screen.

Under Vista, all we get is "...has stopped working. Windows is checking for
a solution." and of course Windows never finds anything. Windows should at
least show the exception message.

Is there any way to change this? I'm feeling Vista is trying too hard to
hide the error messages from the user. But at least "has stopped working"
is better than "illegal operation," which (back in the '90s) made users
think they had done something forbidden!

I think catching and displaying of generic exception and its message
on the application level ( try catch in the Main() ) can solve the
issue. That will prevent exception going to user in an unexpected
form.
