Lost records in Customer Delivery Addresses table.

I have an MS Access database with one particular table holding customer delivery addresses. The system has been up and running for nearly 2 years without any problems. About 4 weeks ago we noticed that 21 records (numbers 1 to 21) were no longer in the table. We re-entered the lost records and on checking this week found that records 1 to 10 were missing. The application was developed under MS Access 2010 and now runs under 2013. No other tables exhibit loss of records. Any experience of a similar problem or solution would be welcome. Alan.

I doubt Access is deleting these records on its own. The one case that I could see Access deleting the records is if the Database was corrupted. In this case, you would start experiencing catastrophic problems and it would be evident that something very serious is happening.

My guess is that there is a Form based on Customer Delivery Addresses that Allows Deletes and one of your users is inadvertently deleting the records. This hypothesis is strengthened if the First Record displayed on this Form when it is opened is the Oldest in the Customer Delivery Addresses table. It would then be probable that someone is opening the Form and clicking on the Delete record button on the Ribbon, which looks like an X, instead of the X to close the Form.

I would find this Form and change the Allow Deletions Property of the Form to No. If you actually need to delete records off this Form, there are things you can do to turn AllowDeletes back On.

Thank you for your comments. I agree that it doesn't look like database corruption otherwise we would be having more problems than loss of records from a single table. We have a data entry form which, when opened, displays the first record and it is the first records which are going missing. I will check to see if there are any other forms relevant to this table and will also set the 'deletions allowed' parameter on the data entry form to 'No' (there should be no need for users to delete records). Will let you know if this solves the problem and thanks again.
