This question is too broad to answer. There are hundreds of different ways to search for a record in a database. One could argue that it is one of the primary functions of a database. For starters, you can use the basic Access Filter command, you can use the arrows on the right side of a column header in datasheet view, you can create a filter string using an unbound control's row source and assign it to the form or report's Filter property with VBA. The list goes on and on...

You need to provide a lot more context for your particular application to get meaningful results in a forum like this. For example, are you trying to create a form or a report? Are you trying to find data in a large table? You might as well ask a bunch of mechanics how to fix an engine. I'm just trying to be honest; I'm not trying to sound discouraging.

As GKJR has said, your question is very open-ended, great for interview and homework questions; however, not so good in a forum. Actually if GKJR hadn't have made a post I would have closed the thread for that very vagueness.

As you mention that you are a very new user to Access, I suggest starting out with MS "Getting Started with Access 2010" Play the video there and then start with the Basic tasks in Access 2010 article.

Finally, check your Bytes.com in-box. I've pm'd you a copy of my infamous boilerplate with what I hope are a few useful tutorials and more advanced reference links.
