I have a question regarding the "Definition" of a database.

I am wondering if it is possible to set codes in a database so the definition can't be reproduced, imported or exported or redistributed?

I am not referring to the database "data." Simply its definition?

re: Copyright question

Check out the Startup options (Tools \ Startup...). Be very careful. Keep your own master copy. This can be used to lock the file up very tightly indeed.

Also, check out Security. Again from the Tools menu.

Lastly, you might consider creating an MDE (Tools \ Database Utilities \ Make MDE) file.

re: Copyright question

Thank you,,,

I looked it up but unfortunately these feature wont allow me to do what I intended. People have seen my database and would like to adapt it to their entity but thing is I am not willing to just give it to them. I would like to get a bit of reward for all the work I put into it and if they can distribute the database definition around to other people then my database design with all the function becomes public and i get nothing from it. It is wrong to think that way?

re: Copyright question

I'm pretty sure they would allow you to protect your design. Which to choose depends on exactly how much protection you feel it needs.

Is it wrong?
I don't think so. As long as you're not planning to extort money from anyone, then expecting remuneration for your work is only what most of us do one way or another.
