Multiple sessions speed up Access?

This is another one of the endless oddities about this Access application that I have inherited. This one has me stumped. The users found that if they have two sessions of the application running, both on forms that have a data backend (i.e. that is getting data from a table or a query), the forms update faster than if they have only one session open. I have seen it several times now over a couple of days. At first, I thought that the users were unknowingly caching data. But no, this is real. Can anyone explain this? Is there some way to get the same effect with a single session?

Sign me perplexed.

One thing I forgot to mention. One of the sessions can be idle (no action) while the other is being used to enter and edit data. Really strange.
