Northwind database and others hang

One of my users has Dell machine with 1 gb memory. Her access installation
seems to be corrupted. Her symptoms were sometimes when she tried to print a
report from an access application that I wrote, access would hang for a
minute then exit. She is the only user with this problem. I uninstalled the
application and also uninstalled MS Office 2003, then reinstalled Office 2003
and applied all the MS Updates. If I try to open the Northwind Database and
click on Categories, the screen hangs and Access Quits. If I open access and
look at the security workgroup file, I see in the path all crazy characters,
looks like Jappanese.

She is running WebShots software on startup, and I thought it may be
conflicting. I removed webshots from startup, but did not remove from her
machine. I rebooted and reinstalled access again. Still did not work. Does
anyone have any ideas short from blowing up her machine and reloading
everything.

I saw a thread regarding a similar problem, but it was on a lap top running
some mobile software which was the culprit.

Thanks.

You have to make a call: either spend an unknown amount of time to
figure out what the problem is and fix it, or spend a known amount of

I went to http://groups.google.com/advanced_search?q=& and entered
Access hangs
in the WithAllWords box and
*Access*
in the GroupsToSearch box. Lots of things occurring...missing
references, name autocorrect is on, etc. Lots of hangs in the number of
articles returned.

If you click Help/About on a machine that works and one that doesn't is
there any difference/service packs you notice? I know you said you did
updates but a check might be worthwhile.

I checked the service packs and they were OK. I think I wil have to rebuild
her machine and go from there.

Thanks.
