Hi to all,

Please bear with me as I am newly experienced in basic Access 2003 only. I don't know Visual Basic or macros at all but am attempting to learn on my own.

Explanation:

Our fleet of trucks have been installed with a GPS tracking system that downloads into csv files all detailed information. The drivers also swipe a card for when they start their shift and when they end their shift. I then downloaded this information into Access.

We have grave, day, swing and night shifts. The drivers are paid every 2 weeks which comes out well over 100 hours per pay period. The total shift time downloads as seconds along with start date and time and end date and time. I need a total hours worked to give to payroll.

In a query I divide the seconds by 86400 (total seconds in a day) to get the hours and minutes in short time format ... (ex: 11:58 for one shift).

Is it possible in a report to sum-up all of the hours, which is normally over 100, in a 2-week period and if so, How?

Right now I'm downloading the Access data to Excel where I am able to get total hours over 99 to turn into Payroll.

Please forgive me if I have not sent this to you correctly or have not worded it correcly. I've never done this before and feel well out of my league.

With appreciation,

Joan Bosrock

re: Calculating Times for Payroll over 99 Hours

For some background on time calculations you can check:
http://www.mvps.org/access/datetime/index.html

Main "problem" for >24 hours will be the fact that Access will convert them into days. Only when you use an integer (or double) numeric value to store the hours per shift (use e.g. the subtraction you see in the above link), you can add them up to values above 24.

Hi Nic,

Thank you for the response and the link. Even though I'm a true newbie when it comes to this I'll play around with it this week and see if I can make some sense out of it.

Again, thanks for the help!
