creating delivery notes

I am currently printing on a dot matrix printer pre-printed 2 part
delivery notes (numbered), having quality problems on copy. decided to
modify report to fit A4 and print on plain paper.

Need help to add a sequential number for each page (delivery note
number).

I use a module which uses Dmax +1 i.e. searches the delivery number
field for its highest value then adds one to it and updates the new
record with this number.
