Access and a VPN

I have an Access database running over a VPN but I cannot keep it running.
The connection always seems to go down. Any ideas?

That is to be expected. Access is very sensitive to momentary hickups
of network connectivity. The internet is not a stable network.
I would recommend using Remote Desktop Connection instead, and run a
session on a server.
