Thank you in advance for any and all assistance. It is greatly appreciated.

Has anyone used Access to keep track with reader/writer magnetic encoders?

I have purchased a Fargo Printer that does ink dye sublimation and I'm going to
make up gift cards for my clients for gifts. I am also purchasing a serial
magnetic reader/writer. I know the readers are basic I/O devices that just
capture anything encoded on the cards. I want to know how to encode from Access
to the magnetic strip. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I don't
however want to buy a program. I have Microsoft Office and I'm told it's
powerful enough to do what I need. I just don't know how, so I'm asking.

You should select a vendor that offers programming support in the form
of documentation, sample applications, etc.
Don't fall into the trap of finding out AFTER the purchase that your
device is hard to interface with.

I'd agree with Tom. You need to check with the vendor of hte serial magnetic
reader/writer. They should have sample code to get you going. Which may only work
in VB and not Access. Or other wierdities.
