Why it didnt work?

Why this works:
$pod = "<//body><//html>";

and this gives me a Parse Error:
$pod = "</body></html>";

??

I used the variable $pod for including the string into *.htm file by using
FPutS() function.
I thought that I must doubled only backslash (\ -> \\) and not the normal
one.

Carved in mystic runes upon the very living rock, the last words of
Honza K. of comp.lang.php make plain:
[color=blue]

They both work fine for me; the problem has to be elsewhere.
