oscommerce / zencart

hi all
i have a question....
can anyone recommend zencart over oscommerce? is it just as stable? (i
prefer the look and feel options of zen cart)
also, how does one go about updating both packages? say i install the latest
version of zencart and creat a live site, then a much better version comes
out... is it possible to upgrade the live site? i know in oscommerce i have
to make changes to some of the includes/ files, surely these would be
overwritten?

Isnt zen cart a tarted version of oscommerce anyway?
