Default Functions not working

I have MS Access 2000. I have recently installed it on a new computer and
transferred my mbd files across. These work OK, including those using SQL
Aggregate funtions. However if I set up a new database, I find that some
of these functions do not work. For instance, I get #Error messages when
trying to use count([fieldname]) or Date(). Sum works OK. As far as I can
see all relevant parts of Access and MS office seem to be installed.

I have run repair and installed the latest MS Office service packs (to SP3),
but the problem remains.

In answer to an earlier post, engles@ridesoft.com suggested that I look at
my references - some are missing. I do not understand this - what are
references and where do look for them?

Can any one help please?

Peter

Open any module window, on the menu, Tools | References. If any are marked
"missing", delete them and reopen. If they were actually unused, you'll be
great; if they were used, you'll have to re-add them to the list (and
possibly search for the proper .DLL).

A note of caution: Be sure you have all three Service Packs applied, plus
any subsequent patches and hotfixes. Then be sure you have all the Service
Packs (8 or more) applied to Jet 4.0. Access 2000, without all the service
packs, had some real problems.
