Default A2K2: Image control cannot read .GIF file

The error number escapes me, the message is equivalent to "invalid file
format" but then in Dutch.

Maybe I've overlooked something in the Setup (which, to be honest, I
didn't perform myself).

Yes the control is fine. That is, it all works with version 97. I
haven't been able to test on another XP machine.

Does Office XP require conscious steps to be able to view GIF files?

The external file filters need to be installed. Perhaps these were skipped
when Access was installed? Also, many image file types actually come in
different flavours (formats) and even though the extension is the same, the
actual file format may not be supported. I have encountered this mostly
with JPGs, but have seen a few GIFs do the same.

That confirms my feeling I should rerun setup to check and see. Consider
the question answered. Thanks.
