security on forms

Is it possible to restrict usage of a command button on a form to only
certain users (i'm on a windows 2000 domain) or users with membership of a
domain/group..?

Don't think so... well, without some ugly code. I guess you could
keep a list of folks that are allowed to use it in a table and then
check for their names in the table, but you could just as easily
distribute another FE/MDE without the button.

It is a little tough to get at the membership info on the server side. You
can certainly use ms-access built-in security, and then you *CAN* get at the
ms-access groups each user belongs to. You can also grab, and get the
current network logged on name:

You can get the current network logon name with:
http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0008.htm

And, the current computer name with:
http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0009.htm

And, if using ms-access security, then currentuser() will return the
ms-access logon.

I often log all 3 of the above values in some applications.
