I do not need a popup-killer script. I personally just use Mozilla 1.6
and K-meleon 0.8.2. I filter roughly 95% of banner ads too. There are
now plenty of browsers for windows which come with popup-suppression

You can try Firefox 0.8. Here's a few quotes from Forbes.com:

I can heartily recommen Opera 7 for that too. I have almost forgotten
what an unwanted popup looks like (only almost, because I sometimes
have to turn the blocker off for some stupid site to work, and forgets
to do the two keypresses to turn it back on :).

Indeed, Opera has had MDI (which is more general than mere tabbing)
at least since version 2 from 1997 (I never saw a version 1 :)
