MAC image map problem

i am working on a site that uses image maps for certain files. ive
been having problems to make these mapped areas work on mac's (os 8,
ie).

the problem it the image map in the upper right corner of the little
yellow "top-news" window: the "x" and the "_" should be clickable and
do the same that they do in an ordinary windows window: minimize/cloze
the little yellow dhtml window. now the problem is, that all these
buttons are in one image file which is being mapped for the different
functions.
it all works perfectly fine EXCEPT on mac's. it USED to work at one
point - but now it doesnt anymore (without me having changed anthing
in the map code. it also works here: www.dhtmcentral.com.

i had the exact same problem before with the map in the upper left
corner - made it work then though by re-writing the map code (and not
actually changing anything as far as i know)

so maybe if somebody has a hint for me - that would be awesome...

Safari1.0 (v85), Mac OS X.
The icons in that page are not clickable and the text in the
supposed-to-be-scrolling box is parked under the title "TOP NEWS",
rendering the first line of text unreadable. Not that the little amount
of text would even need scrolling in the first place.

Wouldn't it have something to do with javascript lend from authors that
are clueless about it themselves?

5/6 of that page is copy/pasted dhtmlcentral.com javascript; to what
end? be more sceptical, less featuristic, it will improve your skills.
