Default Flatten a dynamic array

Is there a standard call to flatten a dynamic array and visa versa? It must
be a readable string.

For a plugin that can only communicate with points to unsigned char I need
to transfer information and construct a dynamic array from it.

You do pretty much the same thing as you do when writing to a text file.
But instead of a file stream you use a stringstream.

What is a dynamic array, and what does it mean to flatten it? These
aren't common C++ terms. Perhaps "serialization" would help you with
google.
