I've been kind of using CSS for a while but mainly using kludges and mixing
it with non standard code and stuff. After looking at the CSS Zen site I've
decided it would be nice to totally separate content/design and start
working on some tableless designs. I'm totally at a loss as to how I should
be splitting up designs and things without using tables so I'm looking at
buying a book.

Anybody have any suggestions? I'm looking for something project/workshop
oriented as opposed to a reference because I can get that on the web. The
Eric Meyer books seem to get good reviews... are they for me?

Flip through it at your favorite bookshop, perhaps it's available
through your local library.

You need to figure out HTML before CSS. If you have a *solid* handle on
HTML, which is comparatively easy, you'll have a much easier time
tackling CSS, which is much more difficult. Are you a professional? If
so, I'd probably recommend that you continue to kludge short deadline
projects and learn HTML on the side. Learn to code HTML 4.01/strict.
Learn to create very structured, very robust documents. When you've got
that down, then learn css and start painting and decorating your documents.

Meyer's CSS/Edge site. Check those out and decide for yourself.
