Default :first-line and :hover

I added a :first-line declaration for the
element on a site.
Afterwards, I noticed some weird behavior in Mozilla 1.3/Win2k. When I
hovered my mouse over links in side the
element (but not in the
first line), it caused the text inside the element to duplicate
itself. As I continued to move the pointer inside and out of the
element text, it continued to duplicate until there were 20 or so
instances. Test case below.

I was going to ask others to confirm, but checked bugzilla first, and
found bug 177539. :( So this is an fyi.

Is there mention of a fix? Under Firebird 0.7 (Gecko 20031007) & XP, I
don't get that behaviour, but it is still very odd. Some, & only some,
links (excluding those on the first line) don't respond to the hover
event; what's more, cycling through the focused links with tab results
in those same links being missed out :/
