Default Formatting lists

Hi

I'm using css for my intranet website, all clients are using IE 5.5 and
above.

- I try to format <ul><li> lists, but I am not happy with the result. Each
documented property as list-style, font
- properties and so on are working fine, but I search for a way to edit

the distance from left page (or <div) margin to the list images, and
the distance from the list images to the list text item.

Currently, each list has a big distance to the left margin of my navigation
column and on the right site it's truncated. I have tried something with
padding, but nothing seems to work or I don't know the correct syntax.

Can anyone help me ?

Thx in advance
Thomas
