Default subscripts / superscripts

What is the recommended way I should represent subscripts and
superscripts in my HTML doc? I cannot seem to find a ̉ like code
in the list of decimal codes to use to represent special characters.

Thanks, -

Not sure if you're looking for this:
m2 and O2
?

Digits or letters?

¹ ² ³ are pretty safe even on suitable
Macintosh browsers:

However, broken browsers do exist:

The other digits

are unreliable. You better use and .
