I am new to creating webpages - is there a website where I can "view" my own
webpage as it would appear on various different browsers ? to check for
compatibility etc...

It would be a good idea to have a set of browsers on your own computer, rather
than relying on on-line services for all cases. Also, use the W3C validator -
it may help with compatibility (although I am not as optimistic about this as
some).

But you will probably still need to cater for some extra cases. See if any of
these suits you.

Just to amplify on Barry's point, the reason that you're better off
actually testing on browsers on your own system is that a mere static view
of a page doesn't say much about how well it *works* in any particular
browser. It doesn't tell you, for example, what happens when the browsing
window size is changed or when the font size is changed by the user. It
can't tell you about problems similar to the "peekaboo" and "guillotine"
bugs in MSIE, problems that only manifest themselves during interaction
with the page. And, unfortunately, a lot of cross-browser
incompatibilities are thus "dynamic" rather than "static" in nature.
