Default How do i get dotted table borders?

Hi everyone,

well i know the CSS-Entity "border-style:dotted", but it doesn't work for
me - i need 1 Pixel dotted borders, but "border-style:dotted" creates (on my
IE 6, at least) dashed borders (2 Pixels wide).

Is there anything to take care of too or is it simply not possible to do
this with CSS/HTML?

Thanks for your tips,
Christian

This has nothing to do with HTML or CSS. Your problem is with IE.
Specifying:

table {
border-style: dotted;
border-width: 1px;
}

works perfectly in Opera, Netscape, and Mozilla. However, as you say, IE
renders it with dashes, unless you use larger widths.

As for workarounds at 1px, I'm not sure.

Welcome to the frustrations of IE.
Somehow M$ is a member of W3C, but doesn't comply with its standards.

3 pixels wide on my PC. (I just put a screen capture into Photoshop).

Also note that different browsers leave different numbers of pixels between
the dots. Forefox leaves 1, Opera leaves 2, and IE 6 leaves 3. (IE 5 is
continuous - but see below).

The standards actually don't say it must be 1 x 1. In fact, they even say:
"Conforming HTML user agents may interpret 'dotted', 'dashed', 'double',
'groove', 'ridge', 'inset', and 'outset' to be 'solid'."

Hm!
