Default Difference between port number and IP address

Hi,

I am a new bee for networking. Can anyone please explain to me the difference between a port number and IP address with some example?

Thanks in advance.

I hate to say this, but have you searched Google yet? Also, if this is homework, then you need to do this yourself instead of breaking the site posting guidelines and asking for the answers. :-) This is a very basic networking question that the internet as your resource can provide for you.

Regards,

Jeff
