Default ethernet switch board problem

hai experts,

iam new to network field and in our office ethernet switch board is not working .could any one know what are the possiblities for the problem and plz help me to solve the problem.

Could be anything, you are going to have to start testing things.

For instance, it could be:

- the switch itself
- the cat-5 cable
- the network card in the machine


Those are just some thoughts. I would start by making sure that the cable and card in the machine are good before blaming the switch.

You also need to provide details.

What's the make and model of the thing you think is broken.

What have you tested and how? Be specific, since (no disrespect) newbies generally have no idea how unknowledgeable (is that a word?) they are and sometimes aren't the best at testing or even properly identifying devices and symptoms.
